Did you know?

By the peak of the Vietnam War in 1969, about 543,000 United States troops were serving in Vietnam. The Kansas Senate honored our veterans on the Senate floor, designating March 30 as"Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.” The date is commemorative of March 30, 1973, the day the U.S. Armed Forces completed its withdrawal of combat units from South Vietnam. The Vietnam War was undoubtedly a divisive issue in our country and it was a conflict that caused a generation of veterans to wait too long for the United States to acknowledge and recognize their efforts. It was an honor for the Kansas Senate to be one small part of giving these brave men and women the recognition and appreciation they deserve.
